30 Days ...Day 22

I paint fast but painting a sunset, even a cloudy one without lots of color is a race against time.  I don't always use a palette knife when I am painting outside just because I am comfortable mixing with my brush.  However, with a sunset or sunrise it is necessary for me.  I can mix a couple of big piles and work quickly from them just adjusting the value where it is needed.

The name of this one came to me as I was painting. It looked as if the clouds were holding the sun in a hammock....keeping it aloft a little longer.

This painting is available for purchase on DailyPaintworks.

"cloud hammock"
6" x 12" oil on panel
